Looking for super casual, sand still on your feet, type of dining? Welcome to Dewey Destin’s Navarre! This little piece of paradise is located in the heart of Navarre, right on the Santa Rosa Sound. They are open 7 days a week and serve both lunch and dinner. You order at the counter and pick your own seat! They provide both indoor and outdoor dining and they are pet friendly if you choose the outdoor seating area! Dewey Destin’s Navarre is actually one of 3 locations. Dewey Destin (yes, very much a real person) is actually the great, great grandson of the founder of Destin, Leonard Destin. Fun story to read up on if you’re a history buff. You can find the full story on their website, www.destinseafood.com. You can also check out their menu and other locations.
Now if you’re here the low down on the drink menu, stick with me. Although the restaurant itself vibes lowkey and casual, the drink menu packs a punch! We’re talking craft beers and signature cocktails. When you enter, you’ll find a walk-up bar where you can order and head out to the sand or you can pull up a stool and enjoy your drink of choice in the air conditioning!
But if you’re like me, you want the sand on your feet and that warm Florida breeze on your skin! If that’s the case, grab your craft cocktail and head out back to their outdoor dining! You’ll find picnic tables to choose from as well as several chairs set-up, all overlooking the Santa Rosa Sound. And yes, all outdoor seating is situated right on the pearly white sands you’ll find along the Emerald Coast! You can also check out their neighbors, Navarre Family Water Sports, that offer pontoon and jet ski rentals, after-dark glow kayaking, and much more! You can find their full list of activities at www.nwfllc.com.
Now let’s talk drinks. You’ll usually find around 16 different craft beers to choose from. They typically have about 8 of these on tap. And of course, they also offer a full bar but you’re not going to find a Bahama Mama on this craft cocktail menu. All of their cocktails are handcrafted from fresh squeezed citrus and house-made simple syrups. You’ll find drinks like the Tokyo Fog: Gin, Lavender, house citrus, and matcha green tea coconut foam. House Shandy: Elderflower liqueur, simple syrup, and citrus topped with locally brewed Destin Brewery Destin Blonde Ale. The Pollinator: Vodka, honey, rosemary, and lemon.
I went with the Blackberry Smash. This consisted of 4 Roses Yellow Label Bourbon, fresh blackberries, simple syrup, and house citrus. To be honest, I am not typically a bourbon girl but was feeling a little feisty and this did not disappoint! The blackberries and citrus definitely took the edge off. And really, everything tastes like paradise when you’re sitting outside, overlooking the water.
Dewey Destin’s Navarre is a great spot if you want a craft cocktail with a low-key, outdoor water view. You can even catch the sun setting right under the Navarre Bridge if you time it right. Go check them out and let me know what you think!
